The ApplyNow Platform: Driving Financial Inclusion Nationwide

The MMA specifically highlighted MIB's pioneering "ApplyNow" digital platform as the primary driver behind the award, acknowledging it as a groundbreaking innovation that has fundamentally changed how Maldivians access banking services. The platform enables individuals and businesses anywhere in the world to open fully Shari'ah-compliant accounts entirely online, without the need to visit a physical branch, removing one of the most significant practical barriers to financial inclusion in a geographically dispersed island nation.

The ApplyNow platform has attracted over 88,000 customers to date, a remarkable milestone that reflects the scale of demand for accessible digital banking solutions across the Maldives. Impressively, 55% of these users reside on islands without an MIB branch, underscoring the platform's critical role in extending formal financial services to communities that would otherwise be underserved. The platform has also facilitated a staggering MVR 73.6 billion in transactions, a powerful testament to the trust and confidence customers are placing in MIB's digital banking infrastructure.
