Maldives Launches Interactive Data Portal for Access to Economic and Population Statistics

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has introduced a new Interactive Data Explorer Portal, providing the public with easier access to key economic and demographic statistics for the Maldives.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the online platform enables users to conveniently explore official data on inflation, economic performance and population trends through a single, user-friendly interface. The initiative is aimed at improving public access to reliable national statistics and supporting informed decision-making.

The portal also provides access to important economic indicators, including the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP), allowing users to monitor changes in the country's economic performance over time.

The Ministry noted that the platform is expected to enhance public awareness of developments in the Maldivian economy and population while making official statistical information more accessible to researchers, businesses, policymakers and the general public.

Officials further highlighted that the Maldives Statistics Act has strengthened the country's legal and institutional framework for the collection, management and dissemination of official statistics, as well as promoting greater public awareness of statistical information.

In accordance with the legislation, the President has appointed a Chief Statistician to lead the National Bureau of Statistics, which operates under the mandate of the Ministry of Finance.
