Dhiraagu Celebrates 16 Consecutive Years of Its Apprenticeship Programme, Graduating 15 Apprentices and Welcoming 25 New Enrollees

Dhiraagu has held the graduation ceremony for the 2025 cohort of its flagship Apprenticeship Programme, marking the successful completion of the initiative for the 16th consecutive year and reaffirming the company's enduring commitment to nurturing the next generation of Maldivian talent.

A total of 15 apprentices were proudly awarded certificates upon successfully completing the programme, celebrated at a graduation ceremony that brought together distinguished guests from across the education, business, and government sectors.

The ceremony was honoured by the presence of the Chief Guest, Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development, Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed, alongside heads of educational institutions and members of Dhiraagu's Board and senior management team.

A Pioneer in Corporate Apprenticeship

The Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme holds the distinction of being the first corporate apprenticeship programme introduced in the Maldives and remains the company's flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. Since its launch in 2009, the programme has focused on developing the employability skills, professional confidence, and technical capabilities of Maldivian youth, with a cumulative total of 312 young people having enrolled in the programme to date.

Through a structured training programme, soft skills development training, and hands-on experience working across multiple core business areas of Dhiraagu, participants gain a well-rounded and practical foundation that provides a clear and meaningful pathway towards a successful career. Apprentices have the opportunity to work both in Malé and across Dhiraagu's Regional Operations Centres throughout the country, gaining exposure to diverse working environments and teams.

A New Batch Welcomed

In the same ceremony, Dhiraagu proudly welcomed the 17th batch of the Apprenticeship Programme, with 25 new apprentices enrolling in this year's intake, continuing the tradition of investing in young Maldivian talent year after year.

Paying tribute to the programme's legacy, Minister Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed highlighted that the Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme has set an exemplary standard in providing vocational training over the past 17 years. He expressed his appreciation for Dhiraagu's unwavering commitment and strategic initiatives aimed at nurturing the talents and skills of Maldivian youth, acknowledging the company's continuous efforts in producing a skilled and work-ready workforce for the labour market.

Dhiraagu CEO and Managing Director Ismail Rasheed extended heartfelt congratulations to the graduating class of 2025 and warmly welcomed the new batch of apprentices joining the programme this year. He emphasised that the primary objective of the Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme is to equip young people with essential professional experience, technical skills, and a strong foundation in work ethic, and expressed his hope that participants would leverage the knowledge and experience gained through the programme to advance their careers and achieve lasting success.
