SME Digital has launched Working Capital Financing in Kulhudhuffushi City, offering up to MVR 2,000,000 with collateral-free financing up to MVR 1,000,000 and a 5-year repayment tenure. The Shari'ah-compliant facility supports SMEs managing short-term cash flow needs, available to businesses operating for at least 6 months.
SME Digital has officially launched its new Shari'ah-compliant Working Capital Financing facility at a product launch event held in Kulhudhuffushi City, introducing a much-needed financing solution designed to help existing businesses manage short-term financial needs and maintain operational stability.
The newly introduced Working Capital Financing facility is designed to provide businesses with the financial flexibility needed to manage cash flow, purchase inventory, and sustain day-to-day operations. Through accessible and flexible financing structures, the solution enables businesses to maintain continuity while supporting growth within their existing operations, addressing one of the most common and persistent challenges faced by SMEs across the Maldives.
Generous Financing Limits and Flexible Terms
Working Capital Financing offers access to financing of up to MVR 2,000,000, with collateral-free financing available up to MVR 1,000,000, giving businesses meaningful access to capital without the burden of pledging assets for smaller financing amounts. The facility provides a repayment tenure of up to 5 years, including a grace period of up to 6 months, allowing businesses to better manage their financial commitments as they work to stabilise and grow their operations.
The financing is available to registered businesses that have been in operation for a minimum of 6 months, ensuring the product is accessible to a broad range of established small and medium enterprises across the country.
A Solution Born From Real Business Needs
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Badhurudheen Hassan, CEO of SME Digital, explained the thinking behind the new facility. "We have observed that investment financing alone is not always sufficient for businesses to operate without disruption. Many businesses seek support to address short-term cash flow challenges affecting their day-to-day operations. We are introducing Working Capital Financing to provide timely financial support, enabling businesses to maintain continuity, strengthen operations, and sustain growth. Through this initiative, we aim to support the long-term sustainability of SMEs and reinforce their resilience in a dynamic business environment."
Part of a Wider Community Engagement Visit
The launch formed part of SME Digital's broader visit to Kulhudhuffushi City from 27th to 29th March, during which the team engaged closely with local businesses and strengthened its connections within the community. Throughout the visit, SME Digital conducted awareness sessions highlighting available financial opportunities, with a particular focus on supporting the growth and development of SMEs in the region.
As part of the visit, a Sales Engagement event was held on 27th March, during which participants were provided with detailed information on available financing options and supported with on-site application submissions. On 28th March, the team visited the city's Saturday Market to engage directly with local businesses and share insights on available financial opportunities. Additional visits were also made to entrepreneurs across the island, allowing the team to gather valuable insights to support the continued development of SME Digital's products and services.
