Maldives Islamic Bank Opens New Sales Centre in GA. Villingilli, Advancing Financial Inclusion Across Gaaf Alif Atoll

Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) has officially inaugurated its newest Sales Centre in Villingilli Island, Gaaf Alif Atoll, on Monday, 24th February 2026, marking a significant step forward in the bank's ongoing mission to expand its reach and promote financial inclusion across the Maldives.

The newly opened Sales Centre complements MIB's existing 24/7 ATM services in the area, which already provide the local community with convenient round-the-clock cash deposit and withdrawal facilities. The addition of the Sales Centre brings a new dimension of service to the island, offering an innovative, fully digital account opening and financing application process that enables customers to access banking solutions quickly, conveniently, and seamlessly without the need for unnecessary paperwork or lengthy procedures.

A Well-Attended Inauguration

The inauguration ceremony brought together prominent local and regional figures, attended by Hon. Azim Abdul Azeez, GA. Villingilli Constituency Parliament Member; Mr. Ibrahim Shaheen, GA. Atoll Council President; Mr. Vishal Mohamed, President of the Secretariat of the Villingilli Council; and Mr. Ibrahim Shuhail, Head of Distribution at MIB, reflecting the significance of the occasion for both the bank and the wider community.

Serving as the Regional Banking Hub

As the regional service provider for all islands in the area, the GA. Villingilli Sales Centre is set to serve as a key hub of convenience and support for residents throughout Gaaf Alif Atoll, bringing reliable and accessible banking services closer to the community. The centre is expected to meaningfully improve access to formal financial services while further strengthening MIB's engagement with customers across the atoll, reinforcing the bank's commitment to ensuring that no community is left underserved.
